Description
|
This cell line is a HEK-293-CNG cell line that expresses a recombinant human ADRB1. HEK-293-CNG cells express a modified CNG (Cyclic Nucleotide Gated) channel that opens in response to elevated intracellular cAMP levels and consequently result in ion flux and cell membrane depolarization. The assay allows both end-point and kinetic measurement of intracellular cAMP changes with a FLIPR or a fluorescence microplate reader.

About Human Beta-1 Adrenergic Receptor (ADRB1/β1AR) Stable Cell Line
Beta-1 Adrenergic Receptor (ADRB1), also known as β1AR or β1-Adrenoceptor, is a Class A G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that is activated by the endogenous catecholamines epinephrine (adrenaline) and norepinephrine (noradrenaline). ADRB1 primarily couples to Gs proteins, stimulating adenylate cyclase activity and increasing intracellular cAMP levels, which activate downstream signaling pathways involved in cardiac contractility and cellular metabolism. The receptor is predominantly expressed in the heart and kidney, with additional expression in the central nervous system.
ADRB1 is the principal adrenergic receptor regulating heart rate, myocardial contractility, atrioventricular conduction, and renin release. Dysregulation of ADRB1 signaling has been implicated in hypertension, heart failure, arrhythmias, myocardial infarction, and other cardiovascular diseases. As a result, ADRB1 is one of the most extensively studied GPCRs and a major therapeutic target for β-blockers and β1-selective agonists.

Biological Significance of ADRB1
