About Bundibugyo Ebolavirus Glycoprotein (GP)
Bundibugyo ebolavirus (BDBV) is one of the recognized species within the Ebolavirus genus and is responsible for Ebola virus disease (EVD) outbreaks in humans. Similar to other ebolaviruses, the viral glycoprotein (GP) is the only surface protein expressed on the virion and plays a critical role in host-cell attachment, receptor interaction, membrane fusion, and viral entry. Because GP is exposed on the viral surface and directly mediates infection, it serves as the primary target of neutralizing antibodies, vaccine development programs, and antiviral therapeutic strategies.
