About Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) Glycoprotein gp42 Recombinant Protein

Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is an enveloped double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the genus Lymphocryptovirus in the family Herpesviridae. Glycoprotein gp42 is an essential viral envelope protein that mediates EBV entry into B lymphocytes. gp42 binds HLA class II molecules on B cells and forms a complex with gH/gL, triggering activation of the viral fusion protein gB to promote membrane fusion and viral entry. Because gp42 determines EBV B-cell tropism and is a major target of neutralizing antibodies, it has become an important antigen for studies of viral entry, vaccine development, and therapeutic antibody discovery.

eEnzyme's EBV Glycoprotein gp42 Recombinant Protein is produced for research use and is suitable for antibody screening, receptor-binding studies, ELISA development, Western blotting, epitope mapping, structural characterization, and EBV vaccine research. This recombinant protein provides a valuable reagent for investigating EBV-host interactions, B-cell entry mechanisms, immune responses, and antiviral therapeutic development.

Applications

•  EBV entry mechanism studies
•  HLA class II receptor-binding studies
•  Neutralizing antibody screening
•  ELISA and Western blot assays
•  Epitope mapping
•  Structural biology studies
•  EBV vaccine research
•  Antiviral therapeutic development

Biological Significance of EBV Glycoprotein gp42

EBV gp42 is a critical determinant of B-cell infection, functioning as the receptor-binding component that links HLA class II recognition with activation of the viral membrane fusion machinery. Through its interaction with the gH/gL complex, gp42 controls viral tropism and enables efficient entry into B lymphocytes. As a key component of the EBV entry process and a major neutralizing antibody target, the EBV Glycoprotein gp42 Recombinant Protein provides a valuable research tool for studies of EBV biology, immune responses, vaccine development, and therapeutic antibody discovery.
