About Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV) gH/gp42 Complex Recombinant Protein
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is an enveloped double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the genus Lymphocryptovirus in the family Herpesviridae. The gH/gL/gp42 complex is a key viral entry complex required for infection of B lymphocytes. In this complex, gp42 binds HLA class II molecules on B cells, while gH/gL cooperates with the viral fusion protein gB to trigger membrane fusion and viral entry. Because the gH/gL/gp42 complex is essential for EBV B-cell tropism and is a major target of neutralizing antibodies, it has become an important antigen for studies of viral entry, vaccine development, and therapeutic antibody discovery.
