About Human Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor (G-CSF)
Granulocyte Colony-Stimulating Factor (G-CSF), also known as Colony Stimulating Factor 3 (CSF3), is a hematopoietic cytokine that plays a critical role in the regulation of neutrophil production, differentiation, survival, and function. G-CSF is produced by a variety of cell types including macrophages, endothelial cells, fibroblasts, and immune cells in response to inflammatory stimuli and infection. By binding to the G-CSF receptor (CSF3R), G-CSF activates multiple intracellular signaling pathways including JAK/STAT, PI3K/Akt, and MAPK pathways, promoting proliferation and maturation of neutrophil precursors within the bone marrow and enhancing the functional activity of mature neutrophils.
