About Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1) Glycoprotein D (gD) Recombinant Protein

Herpes Simplex Virus Type 1 (HSV-1) is an enveloped double-stranded DNA virus belonging to the genus Simplexvirus in the family Herpesviridae. Glycoprotein D (gD) is an essential viral envelope glycoprotein that mediates viral attachment and entry by binding cellular receptors, including HVEM (TNFRSF14) and nectin-1 (PVRL1). Receptor engagement by gD activates the viral fusion machinery composed of gB and the gH/gL complex, enabling membrane fusion and viral entry.
