About Measles Virus Hemagglutinin (H) Recombinant Protein
Measles virus (MeV) is an enveloped, negative-sense single-stranded RNA virus belonging to the genus Morbillivirus in the family Paramyxoviridae. The Hemagglutinin (H) glycoprotein is one of the two major viral surface glycoproteins and is responsible for attachment to host cell receptors, including SLAMF1 (CD150), nectin-4 (PVRL4), and CD46 (vaccine strains). Binding of the H protein triggers activation of the viral Fusion (F) protein, initiating membrane fusion and viral entry. Because of its essential role in infection and its strong immunogenicity, the H protein is the primary target of neutralizing antibodies and an important antigen for vaccine and diagnostic research.
