About RSV Prefusion F (Pre-F0) Glycoprotein

Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a major cause of lower respiratory tract infections in infants, young children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals. The RSV fusion (F) glycoprotein is an essential viral surface protein that mediates fusion of the viral envelope with host-cell membranes and enables viral entry into susceptible cells. Because of its critical role in infection, the F protein has become the primary target for RSV vaccine development, neutralizing antibody discovery, and antiviral therapeutic research.

The RSV F protein exists in two major conformational states: a metastable prefusion (Pre-F) form and a stable postfusion (Post-F) form.
