Stable Cell Lines for Alphavirus

Alphaviruses are enveloped, positive-sense single-stranded RNA ((+)ssRNA) viruses belonging to the genus Alphavirus within the family Togaviridae. Their genomes are approximately 11–12 kb in length and encode four nonstructural proteins (nsP1–nsP4), which mediate viral RNA replication, and five structural proteins (Capsid, E3, E2, 6K/TF, and E1), which are responsible for virion assembly and host cell entry. Most alphaviruses are mosquito-borne arboviruses and are broadly classified into Old World and New World alphaviruses. Clinically important members include Chikungunya virus (CHIKV), Eastern Equine Encephalitis virus (EEEV), Western Equine Encephalitis virus (WEEV), Venezuelan Equine Encephalitis virus (VEEV), Ross River virus (RRV), and Sindbis virus (SINV).

Multiple host cell surface receptors have been identified that mediate alphavirus attachment and entry, including PCDH1, LDLRAD3, and VLDLR, with distinct receptor preferences among different alphavirus species. Stable cell lines expressing these human entry receptors provide robust and physiologically relevant platforms for studying virus–host interactions, receptor-mediated viral entry, neutralizing antibody evaluation, antiviral and entry inhibitor screening, pseudovirus-based infection assays, and receptor biology. eEnzyme offers a growing portfolio of human alphavirus receptor stable cell lines designed to support basic research, drug discovery, and therapeutic development.
