The Ebola virus glycoprotein (GP) is the only viral protein exposed on the surface of the virion and plays an essential role in viral attachment, receptor binding, membrane fusion, and host cell entry. GP is synthesized as a precursor that is cleaved into the GP1 and GP2 subunits, which assemble into trimeric spikes on the viral envelope. Because GP is the principal target of the host humoral immune response and neutralizing antibodies, it is widely used in Ebola virus diagnostics, vaccine development, and immunological research.
eEnzyme's Anti-GP (Zaire Ebola Virus 2014) Rabbit Polyclonal Antisera is generated by immunization with recombinant Zaire Ebola virus GP antigen. The antisera recognize multiple epitopes across the Ebola virus glycoprotein and are suitable for applications including ELISA, Western blotting, immunodetection, antigen characterization, vaccine evaluation, and basic filovirus research.
