Description
|
This Kit is designed to gauge cell growth by measuring proportional changes in total cell ATP. This is a homogenous assay, so it can be performed on multi-well plates by adding the reagents directly to cell growth medium in both adherent and suspension cell cultures.

Application
|
This assay is optimized to accurately measure cell number over a broad dynamic range (102 - 2x105 cells) in 96-well plate format, ideal for automated high-throughput screening (HTS). The assay accurately monitors cell growth over time periods 24 hr – 120 hr, and the ATP detection sensitivity is from 0.1 to 1000 µM.
This kit is applicable in studying cell proliferation, cell toxicity, and ATP measurement.

About Elite™ Cell Growth Assay Kit (Luminescence)
Cell proliferation and viability are fundamental indicators of cellular health, metabolic activity, and responses to biological or pharmacological stimuli. Because adenosine triphosphate (ATP) is the universal energy currency of living cells and is rapidly depleted upon loss of cell viability, intracellular ATP levels closely correlate with the number of metabolically active cells. ATP-based luminescence assays have therefore become one of the most sensitive, accurate, and widely adopted methods for monitoring cell growth, cytotoxicity, and cell proliferation in biomedical research and drug discovery.
eEnzyme's Elite™ Cell Growth Assay Kit (Luminescence) provides a rapid, homogeneous assay for quantifying viable cell numbers by measuring intracellular ATP using the firefly luciferase-luciferin bioluminescent reaction. The assay requires only the direct addition of reagent to cultured cells, eliminating wash or separation steps. Compatible with both adherent and suspension cell cultures, the kit delivers excellent sensitivity across a broad dynamic range (10²–2 × 10⁵ cells/well) and is readily adaptable to 96- and 384-well microplate formats for routine laboratory studies and high-throughput screening (HTS).

Biological Significance of ATP-Based Cell Growth Assays
Intracellular ATP concentration is a highly reliable indicator of metabolically active, viable cells because ATP synthesis rapidly ceases following loss of membrane integrity or metabolic function. Quantification of ATP therefore provides a direct and sensitive measurement of cell proliferation, viability, and cytotoxicity that is less susceptible to interference than many colorimetric assays. ATP-based luminescence assays are widely used to evaluate anticancer agents, monitor cellular responses to therapeutic compounds, optimize cell culture conditions, and perform large-scale compound screening.
