Monkeypox virus (MPXV) is a large, enveloped double-stranded DNA virus in the family Poxviridae, subfamily Chordopoxvirinae, and genus Orthopoxvirus. It causes mpox, a zoonotic disease that can spread through close contact with infected people, animals, or contaminated materials.
MPXV has a linear double-stranded DNA genome of approximately 197 kb and encodes many proteins involved in viral replication, immune evasion, entry, assembly, and cell-to-cell spread. Two infectious forms are commonly described: the intracellular mature virion and the extracellular enveloped virion, which contain distinct membrane-associated proteins and contribute to viral entry and dissemination.

Surface and membrane proteins such as A35R, A29L, M1R, and E8L are important targets for antibody development, antigen detection, vaccine research, neutralization studies, and basic orthopoxvirus research. eEnzyme offers monoclonal antibodies directed against these MPXV antigens.
