Animal-Free Recombinant Human Proteins
The rapid development of transgenic plant technologies has made the plant based expression system an alternative method in the production of recombinant proteins that are safer to use for academia and pharmaceutical industries. Unlike the bacterial expression system, plants can produce native form proteins with post-translational modification and free of endotoxin; unlike the mammalian cell culture system, plants have a very low risk of human pathogens.
