SFTS & RVF Viruses
SFTS virus (SFTSV), also called dabie bandavirus, could cause severe fever with thrombocytopenia syndrome (SFTS), an emerging tick-borne infectious disease. It is a newly identified member of the genus Phlebovirus in the family Bunyaviridae according to the previous nomenclature by the International Committee of Taxonomy of Viruses (ICTV), and according to the nomenclature by the ICTV, SFTSV has been classified into the Genus Banyangvirus, Family Phenuiviridae and re-named as Huaiyangshan banyangvirus.
RVF virus causes Rift Valley fever (RVF), an acute fever -causing viral disease most commonly observed in domesticated animals (such as cattle, buffalo, sheep, goats, and camels), with the ability to infect and cause illness in humans. RVF virus is a member of the genus Phlebovirus in the family Bunyaviridae.
